Bl{art}: Art Beyond Sight
🌐 Visit me at www.blart.ca

Welcome to Bl{art}. My name is Rodney D. Boulter, and I’m a visually impaired artist based in Belleville, Ontario. I created this platform to share my work, my process, and my evolving journey with vision loss—and how it led me to a new way of making art.

Two years ago, my life changed when I began to lose my sight. I had built a career as a professional photographer and food stylist, but suddenly, the way I interacted with the world—and with creativity—was completely transformed.

Instead of walking away from art, I turned toward it with new intention. I began creating monotypes using acrylic paint on archival paper—a process that relies on texture, contrast, and instinct. My hands now guide me where my eyes once did. Every piece I create is a response to this shift: deeply emotional, physical, and intuitive.

“Losing my sight didn’t mean losing my vision. It meant redefining it.”

Bl{art} is more than just a blog—it's my studio, my gallery, and my voice. Through it, I aim to show that creativity isn’t limited by sight, ability, or convention. It’s shaped by resilience, curiosity, and the need to express.
